Two Stage Weaning

The first step is to take away the milk source from the calves by using a small, plastic device called a QuietWean nose tag that fits into each calf’s nose to prevent nursing. The nose tag is left in for about a week while the calves get to stay with their dams; it is then removed just prior to weaning when the calves are separated from their mothers.
